Trim castle is located 28 miles Northwest of Dublin on the banks of the Boyne River. Trim castle's area extends to 3 acres, comprising of eight towers in addition to the gatehouse. Excavations during the 1970's revealed the stone keep & a number of ancillary buildings. Many of the castle's original features have been restored following a conservation project during the 1990's. In recent years the castle & village were the location for scenes in Mel Gibson's movie Braveheart.
