King George Bridge, Dublin picture 2024.

The iron bridge which spans the Liffey River linking North Dublin, was built to commemorate the 1821 vist of King George IV & was completed in 1827. Dublin was then the second major city of the British Empire after London. When the Great Southern & Western railway terminal opened in 1846 at Heuston, it was known as Kings Bridge station.

Broadstone Railway Station, early 20th century.

The main railway terminus for the Midlands Great Western Railways at Broadstone on Dublin's north side.
It was designed by J. Mulvany and is a neo-Egyptian style design - see above early 1900's image.

Train services continued operating from Broadstone railway station until the late 1950's, it was then closed to make way for a bus depot. The main building is intact today, though in a derelict condition. In 2017 Luas tram services were extended with a stop outside Broadstone Station. Historic Kings Inns building is also nearby.
