The memorial bust to Michael Collins, the Irish War of Independence leader & politician, in Merrion Square Dublin. Born in Clonakilty County Cork in 1890, Collins was the IRA Director of Intelligence responsible for planning attacks on the British Crown forces during the Irish struggle for independence from Great Britain. He was killed during an ambush on his convoy at Béal na mBláth in Co. Cork on 22 August 1922. |
